Before You Leave For The Uk
Your identity document (for example, your passport or identity card) will be checked when you arrive at a UK port or airport to make sure you’re allowed to come into the country, and it should be valid for the whole of your stay.
You may also need a visa to come into or travel through the UK, depending on your nationality.
Below are some essential things you must take into the note. Be aware that failing to do any of the below is a criminal offense (unless you have a reasonable excuse).

- Take a coronavirus test and ensure you receive a negative result within 2 days of your flight to the UK

Taking A Coronavirus Test Before You Travel
Before your flight, you must take a coronavirus test and receive a negative result. I must have t6aken the samples from you two days before your flight.

If you receive a negative result, you must carry notification of this negative result with you, either in paper or digital form.
The adverse test result notification should be communicated in English, Spanish, or French and be shown on arrival.
This notification should contain the following information:
- The name of the person who took the sample
- The negative result of the test
- The name of the test provider and information sufficient to contact that provider
- That person’s date of birth or age
- A statement that the test was a PCR test or the name of the device used for the test.
- The date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider
If you fail to produce notification of a negative test result, you can be fined.
What Can You Bring With You?
What you can bring with you depends on where you’re traveling. You must declare to customs:
- Anything over your duty-free allowance
- More than €10,000 (or its equivalent) in cash, if you’re coming from outside the EU
- Goods that you plan to sell
- Banned or restricted goods in the UK
May check you and your baggage for anything you must declare.
Traveling With Children
You may be asked at the border to prove the relationship between yourself and any children traveling with you if you do not seem to be the parent, for example, if you have a different surname.
You can prove this with:
- A birth or adoption certificate showing your relationship with the child
- Divorce or marriage certificates if you’re the parent but have a different surname from the child
- A letter from the child’s parent permits the child to travel with you and provides contact details if you’re not the parent.

The officer can:
Examine your passport or travel document
- Seize any documents that might show you have committed an offense
- Search you, your bags, belongings, or a vehicle you have traveled in
- Detain you for up to three hours
- Give you a Fixed Penalty Notice.
The police can only use reasonable force to do any of the above if it becomes necessary.
